Stephen John: What's On My Mind

1 Peter 1:18-19

Ok folks, this is my first song blog. The story behind the songs on my first Cd. Today I'm talking about 1 Peter 1:18-19.

Well as the title suggests, this song is taken from the book of first Peter. I was reading my bible (yeah I still do that :)) and this just came alive to me. It was kinda like a validation of my importance and worth.

I immediately set about developing the idea... took me about two weeks and that was it. I first perfomed this song in 1999 with my good Friend Pj Harper and his band at my church.

This song continues to morph every time I perform it and it still continues to encourage me and those who listen to it.

Take a listen if you haven't and if you have soak it in again. Here is the link

Thanks for sharing, can you believe this song is 11 years old?! As a descendant of African slaves the idea of purchasing people to set them free, resonates with and moves me in a special way. Back when slavery was widely accepted as the right and Christian thing to do in the Americas, a few rebels purchased slaves and then set them free. A daring and loving thing to do, reminds me of what Christ did.
